Incoming 5th graders, 6th grades, 7th graders, and incoming Roots students selected the crowned Eagle after a four month design process where staff worked with designers from the Williams Group to envision, narrow, and ultimately identify three finalists.

Students and staff also participated in selecting the final colors: gray, navy, and teal. Students will have the opportunity to wear both gray or navy uniforms next year, and can select a free uniform during registration in late July.

Elmhurst United announces new elective offerings for 2019-2020

When Elmhurst United opens its doors on August 11, 2019, it will be able to offer new elective classes.

Some of these classes have not been offered on campus before, or had been eliminated in past years. These include music (band, strings, and mariachi); Spanish (Spanish for Spanish-speakers, beginning Spanish, and Spanish I); and dance classes.

Reflecting on the importance of music instruction, Music Director Ms. Jack quoted Plato: “I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but more importantly music, for the patterns of music and art all the keys to learning.”

Other classes have been upgraded from a general introductory course, to offer more of a pathway for interested students. Next year, the school will offer intermediate as well as advanced art to experienced students; and the computer science program will expand to include intermediate and advanced coursework for students with previous experience.

In thinking about the prospect of offering both intermediate and advanced art classes, art instructor Mr. Dug was straight and to the point: “Dude, this is awesome.”
